Borescopes are specialized optical devices used to perform inspections in a variety of industries. Basically Borescope designed to support visual inspection at location where eye sight reach is difficult. It accurately work at narrow spaces. It contain a tube (flexible or rigid depending on the type of Borescope) with eyepiece or display at one end and camera or objective lens at second end both are connected through electric/optical system.
Borescope is usually used to accurately examine the defect which is hard to reach with naked eye. Borescopes with insertion tube or long probe allows the deep reach position, curved and tight areas, making them an ideal choice to inspect boiler tubes and heat exchangers.
For high pressure and temperature equipment cracks are one of the serious risk factors. Regular inspection using borescope may help to identify the problem timely. Different types of borescopes are available which can be used for inspection depending upon the equipment design and conditions.
