Cormat Consulting Engineers have designed buildings and facilities for power generation and energy distribution. (Boiler plants, switch rooms, transformer enclosures, distribution yards, CHP generation installations).
Substantial projects have been delivered for process designers and corporate clients aimed at providing sustainable solutions in energy delivery including coal burning, gas burning, incineration, gassification and pyrolisation.
In parallel with the push toward sustainability, the increasing efforts in waste recycling have resulted in much more consistent waste streams which can provide more reliable fuel components for future energy plant designs. This ongoing development demands greater sophistication in materials handling buildings such as Waste Transfer Stations (WTS), Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), and waste segregation facilities such as Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs).
Energy generated from gas is now feasible for much smaller Combined Heat and Power (CHP) installations and the gas to power these can be obtained from landfill, leachate treatment and other sources thus also reducing harmful emissions. Cormat’s have provided full civil and structural design input for leachate facilities and different CHP installations running on various fuel streams (diesel, methane, natural gas etc).
